Productive Things to Do During Ramadan

Ramadan is an auspicious month in which we retrain ourselves to be the way we should always strive to be; it is a month in which we should be seeking to attain taqwa and remembering our Creator. It is an incredibly prestigious month in the Islamic calendar and is a month filled with endless rewards for those that do good.

One of the most important things to remember is that Ramadan 2017 serves as a means of revitalising our faith; starting as we mean to go on, not merely a stopgap for carrying out good acts that end with the month of Ramadan. Rather, it is a form of ensuring we are the best we can be all year round.

There are many charitable acts that we can undertake within this Holy month which, while providing obvious benefits for those we are helping, will also benefit our own lives.

Visiting the Sick or Elderly

There is a great reward in visiting those who are sick or elderly; offering someone companionship, whether through physical assistance or merely giving someone your time as a friend is a form of sadaqah that is highly commended in Islam. What’s more, even the simple act of making someone smile is a form of charity in Islam.

Practise Deen More

With the humdrum of daily life out of the way and with more time on our hands, now is the perfect time for us to practise our religion and to seek more knowledge where we can. This sets us in good stead to incorporate this into our daily lives within and beyond the month of Ramadan, 2017 and beyond.

Donate to Charity

One of the objectives of fasting is to remember our fellow brothers and sisters who are in less fortunate situations than us. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has narrated that “the act of giving to charity does not decrease one’s wealth”.

The rewards for any act of charity are multiplied many times during the month of Ramadan. Although we should give where we can regardless of the time of year, donating to charity during the auspicious month of Ramadan holds a great importance in Islam.

Laylatul Qadr

Laylatul Qadr, known as the Night of Power falls within the last ten days of the month of Ramadan. It is narrated that the reward for ibaadah on this one night is equivalent to that of a thousand months. The Night of Power is the night that the Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Holy prophet (PBUH) as a form of guidance for mankind.

Visit the Mosque More this Ramadan 2017

We find that we visit the Mosque more often during this month to attend congregational prayers and to recite the Holy Qur’an. We also attend mosque to perform the congregational prayer on the morning of Eid-ul-Fitr, which concludes the month of Ramadan.

There are many more things we can do to stay productive during the Holy month of Ramadan, stay posted for more ideas.
