Police award for Islamic Help

Islamic Help is to receive a special award from West Midlands Police for its work in the local community.

The West Midlands Association of Muslim Police (AMP) will honour IH at its Police and Community Awards ceremony on Friday 6 March, 2015, at New Bingley Hall in Birmingham.

The annual ceremony recognises the contribution of police and local organisations in fostering community relations. Islamic Help will be represented at the awards ceremony by its Mission Possible team of Kamran Uddin, Aqib Nisar, Zain Sultan and Hamzah Hafesji.

The West Midlands AMP was formed in 2008 to provide a support network for the police force and improve trust and confidence between the service and Muslim communities.

It aims to recruit and retain Muslim officers and staff and promote a wider understanding of Islam in the police service. It also works to tackle Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate crime, counter terrorism and improve community cohesion.

The awards ceremony aims to “celebrate the achievement and success of Muslim employees, key community members and groups who have made a significant contribution to local communities,” said AMP.

“These are individuals whose dedication, interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and sheer hard work have enabled them to excel in their service delivery, enhancing the lives of the communities of the West Midlands area.”
