Islamic Help is proud to present a weekend of webinars to mark one of the most important times in the Islamic calendar. On Saturday 7th August 2021, one programme will be dedicated to the ‘sacred month of Muharram’ and on Sunday 8th August 2021, the tragedy of Karbala will be discussed Insha Allah.   In the Holy Qur’an, Allah states that there are four ‘sacred’ months in the Islamic calendar, of which Muharram is one of them. The tenth of this month is known as ‘the Day of Aashura’, a day of unparalleled historical significance. From reliable sources, we know that the Aashura was the day when Allah brought comfort to so many prophets and messengers throughout the course of history. It was on this day, for example, Ibrahim was saved from the fire of Nimrud, Yusuf was released from prison and Nuh’s Ark rested peacefully after the flood (peace be upon them all). Insha Allah, this programme will highlight the virtues and significance of Muharram in general and the Day of Aashura in particular. Viewers will also be reminded of the different worships one can engage in at this blessed time of year.   It was the Day of Aashura that Allah also chose for the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In the 61st year of Hijrah, Imam al-Husayn gave his life for the sake of Islam in the scorching deserts of Karbala. 1382 years have passed since this event, yet the story of Karbala still inspires, educates and enlightens Muslims throughout the world. This webinar will Insha Allah explore how Imam al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) sacrificed his life for Islam and what we can learn from this heartfelt episode today.
